Dr. Michael Hagemann

Dr. Michael Hagemann is one of Europe’s most seasoned transformation experts, bringing over two decades of experience leading large-scale cultural, organisational, and leadership change across global enterprises. A specialist in Change Management, Transformation, Leadership Development, and Continuous Improvement, he has designed and delivered programmes impacting more than 80,000 managers worldwide.
His work spans executive coaching, enterprise-wide cultural shifts, capability building, and the development of new ways of working for the digital age. His research and practice converge in a unique, multidisciplinary perspective that deeply aligns with the principles of Eclectic Leadership.
Michael currently serves as Vice President of First Choice/Change Facilitation, where he leads culture, continuous improvement, and change training for global organisations. His career includes roles as academy director, project and change manager, strategist, lecturer, and founder of Transformationdoc, reflecting a consistent commitment to practical, human-centred transformation.
Alongside his corporate leadership, Michael lectures at leading German universities, teaching Change Management, Transformation, and Leadership. He combines practical corporate insight with academic rigour, making him a rare bridge between scholarship and real-world application.
Michael holds a Ph.D. in Law, Education and Development, and he is the author of the ground-breaking dissertation on Eclectic Leadership — one of the first and most comprehensive academic works on the subject. His book A Leadership Paradigm Shift to “Eclectic Leadership” (Springer-Gabler, 2023) is a foundational text that reshapes how leadership, mindset, capability, and organisational transformation are understood today.
He is also the author of multiple other books and peer-reviewed articles on mindset-driven change, transformation, spiritual intelligence, and leadership principles, and continues to influence the field through research, writing, and expert commentary.
